Shortage of Truck Capacity in the United States

Dear MOL Customer:

Due to a variety of circumstances – including winter weather, chassis shortages, port and rail congestion, and the recent implementation of the electronic logging device (ELD) mandate – there is currently a shortage of truck capacity in several transportation hubs in the United States.

In order to overcome this shortage, MOL (America) Inc. has been working very hard to secure the necessary truck capacity. In addition, we have pro-actively attempted to route loads over the closest intermodal terminal to reduce the amount of truck miles. Our procurement team has reached out to truckers who are located near destination cities instead of the cities where they originate.

We anticipate being able to procure sufficient truck capacity in some of these hubs within the next one or two days. Unfortunately, there are some locations where we expect the shortage to continue for at least one to two weeks. Since full enforcement of ELD does not begin until April 1, we anticipate ongoing truck capacity shortages beyond two weeks. As a result, we anticipate that customers may experience schedule changes.

We will keep you informed when more information becomes available. If you have any further questions, please contact your MOL sales or customer service representative. As always, we appreciate your business.

Sincerely,

MOL (America) Inc.
